Welcome

I am a graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Jewelry and Metalworking. Beginning this upcoming Fall, I will be a Master of Fine Arts candidate in Jewelry and Metalworking at the Rhode Island School of Design. I began studying jewelry in 2003 at the Fine Arts Center in Greenville, South Carolina. Jewelry initially caught my interest because of its small size, wearability, details, and the many processes used to make it. Jewelry also allows me to explore sculpture and drawing through a wearable art.

My most recent series of work, Lines of a City, began with my architectural sketches from Florence, Italy. I was studying at Alchimia, a contemporary jewelry school in Florence, where I began exploring new materials, such as the combination of wood, wires, and drawing materials.

Please contact me if you have any questions, requests, or to just learn more about my work! Kate Furman
